Our story so far...

Launceston Community Church started at Egloskerry Primary School in 2003 and moved to it's new home at St Joseph's School, St Stephens Hill, Launceston in 2010.

We belong to the Assemblies of God Network of Churches and seek to build a church that is relevant to people of all ages.

We are part of Churches Together in Launceston and support Missions in Dar El Salaam, Tanzania, Malawi, Youth with a Mission (YWAM) Missionaries and Oriel Ministries, who have a vibrant local schools work.

  • God is bigger and better and closer than we can imagine
  • The Bible is God's perfect guidebook for living
  • Jesus is God showing himself to us
  • Through His Holy Spirit, God lives in and through us now
  • Nothing in creation "just happened." God made it all
  • Grace is the only way to grow in our relationship with God
  • God has allowed evil to provide us with a choice, God can bring good even out of evil events and God promises victory over evil to those who choose Him.
  • Heaven and hell are real places. Death is a beginning, not the end
  • The church is to serve people like Jesus served people
  • Jesus is coming again

the team

Launceston Community Church is led by Pastor Mervyn and Rachel Bate.

Mervyn and Rachel pioneered the Church and have a real heart to lead a vibrant contemporary, relevant church that impacts it's local community as well as developing a new generation of leaders.

They are joined by Henry and Ali Bailey, Chris and Jayne Biddle, Dan and Suzannah Strong and Tom and Verity Lyle, who all serve in their roles and bring a family feel to all that happens in the life of the Church.
